January 09, 2017
Association of “Weekend Warrior” and Other Leisure Time Physical Activity Patterns With Risks for All-Cause, Cardiovascular Disease, and Cancer Mortality

這是一個 observational study,64,000 U.K. adults aged 40歲以上,from 1994 through 2008。
1) Inactive: no moderate-to-vigorous activity
2) Insufficiently active:  <150 150="" activities="" activity="" and="" div="" in="" min="" minutes="" moderate-intensity="" of="" vigorous-intensity="" week="" wk="">
3) "Weekend warrior": ≥150 min/wk of moderate-intensity or ≥75 min/wk of vigorous-intensity activity from 1–2 sessions
4) Regularly active: ≥150 min/wk of moderate-intensity or ≥75 min/wk of vigorous-intensity activity from 3 or more sessions

1) insufficiently active adults and weekend warriors had significant risk reductions in all-cause mortality (about 30%) and CVD mortality (about 40%); regularly active adults had slightly greater risk reductions.

2) L-shaped association between physical activity and mortality

3) Reductions in cancer mortality ranged from 14% for insufficiently active adults to 21% for regularly active adults.

4) Invited commentary
Can It Wait Until Then?
In response to the question of whether activity can wait for the weekend, the short answer is perhaps.
